Finally abroad on the Mimu passport
Have been out of internet range - its been a rough day with squally conditions and lumpy seas. Heading south as quickly as possible as two more fronts are coming our way. One a southerly with expected winds of 35 knots.
Trucking along nicely with a bit of engine assist to to keep above 6-7 knots to get to safety before the next front hits.
In rough seas, the coffee pot went flying (luckily there is a spare one).
Navigated in black skies with just a hint of moonlight into Port Hardy, D’Urville Island, followed the passage past the mussel farm and anchored in Deserter’s Cove at 10.30pm. Was a very cautious entry into an unknown anchorage on a dark and stormy night.
We settled in with bubbles feeling as though we had conquered an ocean. We had the best night’s sleep in a calm and peaceful bay. Don was up a couple of times checking the anchor as squally gusts blew through and at one point needed to set up an SFO rope (shut the fxxx up) to quieten down the swaying boom.
Too much hilarity aboard Cap’n.... more flogging I say!
