Messing around in Doubtful Sounds

 Crew change with the beautiful Zoe joining us.  Time for replenishing the diesel tanks, with a mischievous seal in the way, delicious hot showers ashore, massive amount of laundry washed and dried. Wifi!!









Headed off for Hall Channel - one of the most spectacular of all the arms in Doubtful.  Saw the most amazing waterfalls from the highest cliff faces.  Enjoyed lunch on board, engine off, just drifting at the end of the arm.  



















Welcomed into Blanket Bay by a pod of huge dolphins.  Tied up safe and secure to a mooring buoy for the night.  Fishing vessel Casteaux came by with lots of helpful knowledge plus a bag of freshly caught blue cod.

    Stay warm!! The photos are all gorgeous, such a beautiful part of the world I hope to see it for myself one day. I feel bad now looking at your weather I should have made you 2 trays of slices at least. One would have been gone way too soon lol xx

Exploring Paterson Inlet

 Paterson Inlet - a massive harbour of calm, sheltered waters.  Picturesque little islands with names such as Refuge Island, Crayfish, Bravo, Groper ... the boys caught 3 blue cod and hooked a 1.5m to 2m shark!!  Passed the remnants of a whaling station, bush right to the water's edge, chorus of bird song, the odd bach peeking through native bush, seals sunbathing on the beach, penguins and shags.  Watermaker at work producing 100 litres of water per hour for our hot showers.  Anchored 5pm at Glory Cove. Another awesome day aboard Mimu. It's cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey! Guy doing a quick keel haul in 11.7 degree waters Fillets of straight from the ocean blue cod, pan fried with leek and creme fraiche Ahoy me Matey!! Tied up to a wannabe palm tree. Practicing our "stern to" anchoring ready for Fiji (or maybe the  fiords first) This is how the rats get aboard!!
