Aoraki, Mt Cook, heading north
We started the night watches at 7pm, 2 hours on, 4 hours sleep but more like 3.5 hours sleep with coming off watch, wet weather gear off etc, then 10-15 minutes prior to shift starting putting it all on again/making a cuppa. Motoring almost due north, amazing night sky tonight. 470nm to Wellington, approx 3 days sailing. And its warm! Even the temperature of the night time sailing was very agreeable.
Just look at what daybreak showed us!

Blue skies and sunshine - time to dry out some wet foul weather gear
The plane is actually us, 1pm we are now passed Greymouth. Ahead of schedule.
Time out for the Skipper - its good to have crew!!
Farmers talking about ... sailing?
These two are definitely our good weather fairies on this leg!
How magic is this! A pod of 30-40 hector dolphins came to play!
Hector (we think) dolphins playing at our bow.
Another one of those memorable moments.
Corn fritters for lunch - thank you Commodore!
John keeping a sharp lookout for more dolphins, seals and the odd whale.
Hey Intrepid Mimu Team.
ReplyDeleteIts great to keep receiving your blogs. Wonderful word pictures Jean. Keep them coming, we do read them. The reason we don't reply as often as we should is just that we aren't having the exciting adventures you are....although I do think we are warmer!
Your intrepid tales would not be the same without a few environmental challenges. The old Shanks saying..."If Shit doesn't happen you wont have a story to tell!"
Happy sailing
Luv Don d'Rio
PS I haven't noticed many swimming photos lately?
