Ulva Island

Woke to intermittent rain, flat calm waters in Glory Cove but gale force winds in Fouveaux Straits,  pockets of sunshine peeking through, beautiful melody of bird song, Callum looking pretty shaken over the big shark he hooked!

A very tranquil night, nicely tucked away from those nasty winds outside the harbour

Heading for Ulva Island, predator free, to hopefully spot a kiwi.

Huge rimu and totara, a beautiful example of indigenous bush complimented by a chorus of birdsong

South Island Robin, Kaka, TomTit, Rifleman, Southern Brown Kiwi, Weka, Saddleback, YellowHead, Tui, Kereru

10 minutes after landing on the island ... what did we see?

Unbelievable ...  a brown kiwi foraging in the daylight taking not the slightest bit of interest in us

Moody skies and crystal clear waters

Weka on the beachfront with no fear whatsoever

Blue cod for dinner. Cam and Callum leaving us at first light to fly back to Christchurch.

No pressure Commodore - but we love fresh fish on the menu!

Our last night with Georgie and Guy. Very competitive Bartley Bananagram playing!!
